Greate Charter crafted and illuminated by the immensely talented hand of Her Grace Eliska z Jihlava, who generously gifted it to our Fellowship. Your Grace, we thank you.
We the undersigned Lords, Knights, Squires and Worthy Men at Arms, finding ourselves of like mind and equal desires, have resolved to band together to form a Chivalric Brotherhood which shall henceforth be known as The Fellowship of the Argent Angel. For device we take as our own Azure, an Angel Armed as for War, Argent, and for motto, “Quisque Custodiat Quemque.”
It shall be the purpose of this Fellowship to foster chivalry among its members by encouraging participation in the arts of chivalric combat in all their varied forms, tempered with the knowledge that true glory comes not with the mere achievement of victory, but in striving to do one’s best and in the steadfast refusal to sacrifice honor for base gain or for the sake of vanity.
Likewise it shall be the purpose of the Fellowship to study that period of time which lies between the decline of Rome and the advent of the Age of Exploration, hoping therein to find inspiration, enlightenment, and a better understanding of those who forged the concept of chivalry from the hammer and flame of a hundred thousand bloody fields of conflict.
The Fellowship at War shall stand together on the field of battle, defending our untarnished convictions.
As it is a great honor and privilege to dwell within this noble Western Realm, we here pledge to ever serve and defend its Sovereigns on any field of battle upon which we venture. This we swear willingly and with great devotion.
This Fellowship, being committed to the exploration and pursuit of noble chivalry, shall never suffer itself to be retained in time of war for base gain.
The bonds of this Fellowship shall be broken neither by hazard, nor by wounding, nor even by Death. Leaving no man to face Fate alone, we hereby pledge to be true.
The Fellowship at Tournament shall stand as one, aspiring to uphold the banner of chivalry.
Whether we stand upon the field alone or in company, each shall support and encourage the other with speech, deed, and seemly conduct.
Should it appear that one of our own has sought shameful personal advantage, or has succumbed to the temptations of pride and vanity, he shall hear of it first from us.
The Fellowship at Peace shall strive for increased understanding of the people, events, and cultures of that era that inspires us.
Likewise we shall endeavor to impart this learning to those that share our passion.
We also here pledge to join the ranks of those that toil to restore and protect the ancient artifacts, ruins, and constructions of that era, thus joining in the struggle against Time.
We acknowledge that these noble ideals represent a formidable challenge for any man, yet we trust the continuing aid and encouragement of our comrades will provide for each of us the resolve to keep these ideals ever before us.
This being said, may God bless our venture.
